with a 17th Century boot

for the family

Coerman

- a shield of gold with a boot, as crest a barred helmet with a goat -

because the provenance is a collection of seals from

Van Alderwerelt and Heldewier it might have been passed down by

Gijsbertus Johannes Coerman

to his daughter Maria Henriette Arnoldine Coerman

who married in 1839 with Daniel Ocker Heldewier

17th century boots can be seen on the
Nachtwacht by Rembrandt van Rijn, 1642

and on the feet of The Three Musketeers and D'Artagnan:

een zegelstempel met het familiewapen van het geslacht Coerman:

in goud een laars, helmteken halfaanziend met een uitkomende bok

zaterdag

known: Van Nispen

This coat of arms was an easy one to find,

it belongs to the family Van Nispen

I can tell you about the provenance of this wax seal,
about the branche Van Nispen tot Sevenear and
a marriage with a lady Lonyay de Nagy Lonya,
I can tell you about her family in Abbazia or
his noble Dutch and her noble Hungarian origin,
but I am taking another way.
I will go to Uppland, Winterswijk and Upland

here above and under
Huis Seventer - Huis Sevenaer
where Van Nispen's have lived since 1785

Heraldry and lineage of the Van Nispen family:

see: http://www.familieverenigingvannispen.com

Now the different route.
I am born in Upland, California, US.
Our family went to The Netherlands, to the village Winterswijk.
Between 1905 and 1928 the mayor was
Jonkheer Gerard Albert van Nispen (1868-1949),
his father had a beautiful name:
Gneomar Adalbert van Nispen
The mayor lived in this house:
Villa De Helderkamp in Winterswijk,
now the Karel Doormanstraat.

He was very much involved in getting the dirt roads around Winterswijk paved.
Also the road from Winterswijk, through Woold, to Bocholt in Germany.
During the work there a huge stone was found: 12010kg

In 1915 it was placed on a pedestal in Woold,
on the crossing of Holdersweg, Langediek and Wooldseweg,
And known since as De Dikke Steen - The Fat Stone

Reserach was done about the origin of the stone.
According to the Heseman method in 1930
it came from the east of the middle Balticum, Scandinavia
According to the Rijks Geologische Dienst, Zandstra in 1983, it could by more specified as from Dalarna or ...... Uppland

You might understand that I,
coming from Upland,
prefer it comes from Uppland

the seal is sold by Delta 98 Den Haag, to the US.....

Romance on a rare millefiori antique wax seal with coat of arms, sold by Delta 98 Den Haag

an antique, late 18th Century wax seal, made of glass, with the technique known as millefiori, with on the silver matrix a coat of arms

we could not trace the coat of arms, with:
a shield per pale,
on tincture for blue / azure, three five-pointed stars, on gold a red heart, pierced with an arrow,
the barred helmet is slightly turned to the left, for heraldic: dexter / right
as crest a five-pointed star

the 3 stars on blue with the same (rare) turned helmet and star crest can be found for Paping, a silversmith in Groningen, Netherlands

his wife was also a silversmith, so maybe they made this wax seal and it might have been for personal use, so they did not needed to add hall marks

wouldn't it be romantic if it is a seal to close their letters with love,
maybe refering to a passionate moment under a night sky full of silver shining stars

The coat of arms of Van Splinter - Von Splinter on an antique wax seal in the collection of Delta 98 Den Haag

an antique wax seal with the coat of arms of the family

Van Splinter / Von Splinter

on the shield: in gold a wolf erect / climbing

a tomb stone in Beesel, Limburg, The Netherlands,

with the conjugal coat of arms of

Felix Beatrix Constantin Hubert Van Splinter (1847-1920) mayor of Beesel

and

Gabriella Josephine Antonie Constance Hubertina Ruijs (1846-1938):

their daughter Maria Tecla / Thecla Anna Van Splinter (1891-1965) was the last member of the noble dutch family line

a picture made in 1888 in The Hague of Gabrielle Josephine Antonie Constante Hubertine Van Splinter - Ruys van Nieuwenbroeck:

from her aunt she inherited castle Nieuwenbroeck in Beesel:

on other mansion of the family Van Splinter / Von Splinter was
Haus Ingenraed / Ingenreadt / Ingenrath
in Wankum - Wachtendonk, Germany:

an other mansion was Wasserschloss Gravenhorst

A conjugal coat of arms of Van Der Horst and Zijnen on an antique wax seal from the collection of Delta 98 Den Haag

Let's first turn the seal so we can read it:

the male coat of arms has as motto: De Par Dieu,
and shows on the shield a fess and three lion heads caboshed,
and has a crown with 3 fleurons and 2 pearls

the female coat of arms has as motto: God Zorgt Voor De Zijnen,
and shows a planted, maybe fructed, tree with a bird in the top
and a bird in flight above

now we look into the archives of CBG,
the Dutch Central Bureau for Genealogy in The Hague,
and find:
for the family Van Der Horst,
one part is the same

and:
for the family Zijnen and/or Van Der Hegge Zijnen

Now we have to find a marriage between a
sir Van Der Horst and a lady Zijnen or Van Der Hegge Zijnen.

The sunbeam on the ladies shield on the wax seal
hasn't brought us light so far.......

Antique wax seal with the coat of arms of Wynckelman Winkelman Winckelman

The connection between
a Quarterback in American football and a Dutch Knight in the Middle Ages

an antique wax seal stamp
with the coat of arms of the ancient and noble family

Wynckelman

we see on the shield: in silver, a black carpenters square,
as a crest a demi / half wild-man / sauvage issuant

in Dutch:
adellijk familiewapen, in zilver een winkelhaak / hoek van zwart / sabel,
met als helmteken een uitkomende wildeman

wynckel > winkel / hoek > winkelhaak is a right angle square, a carpenters tool,
but in the Dutch middle ages a Winkelman / Hoekman is also said to be
a knight who was the commander of a group of knights
at a certain corner on the battlefield.

This makes us think of what we know today as the
Quarterback in modern American Football

originating from Gelre, later living in Bruges and Ypers

the name is also found written as:
Winckelman - Wijnckelman - Winkelman - Vinckelman

some misspells found:
Wincklemons Winckelmanns Wynckelmans vvinckelman Wijnckelmans Wenckelmans Winckelmansa Wnickelmans Winckelmasn Winckelmnas

historical, documented descriptions of this coat of arms can be found for:
Jacobus / Jacques Wynckelman,
Heere van 't Metersche ende Ontvanger Generael 's Lands van den Vrijen.

Who was married to Catherine De Croeser.
Their son was Franciscus Joseph Wynckelman,
who died at age of 62 on 30 January 1779,
who was married to Marie Barbara van der Beke,
who died at the age of 66 on March 4, 1801,
she was the daughter of Carolus Albert, Heere van Cringen
and Marie Isabelle Anchemant de Bonnieres.

see the Dutch text:
Genealogie van het aloud en adelijk geslacht Van Wynckelman of Winckleman
starting with Jan Wynckelman, from the duchy / dukedom:
Hertogdom Gelre,
living in Doesburg, he married in 1398 when is was avbout 33 years old
