Antique wax seal with the coat of arms of Wynckelman Winkelman Winckelman

The connection between
a Quarterback in American football and a Dutch Knight in the Middle Ages

an antique wax seal stamp
with the coat of arms of the ancient and noble family

Wynckelman

we see on the shield: in silver, a black carpenters square,
as a crest a demi / half wild-man / sauvage issuant

in Dutch:
adellijk familiewapen, in zilver een winkelhaak / hoek van zwart / sabel,
met als helmteken een uitkomende wildeman

wynckel > winkel / hoek > winkelhaak is a right angle square, a carpenters tool,
but in the Dutch middle ages a Winkelman / Hoekman is also said to be
a knight who was the commander of a group of knights
at a certain corner on the battlefield.

This makes us think of what we know today as the
Quarterback in modern American Football

originating from Gelre, later living in Bruges and Ypers

the name is also found written as:
Winckelman - Wijnckelman - Winkelman - Vinckelman

some misspells found:
Wincklemons Winckelmanns Wynckelmans vvinckelman Wijnckelmans Wenckelmans Winckelmansa Wnickelmans Winckelmasn Winckelmnas
